RecoveryPlus Workplace Who: some trainers For two decades, Deirdre Boyd has been a leader in the field of recovery from addiction, based in the UK with an international reputation. She heads up DB Recovery Resources, supplying a daily news service to the international alcohol/drug addiction-recovery field, as well as editing & publishing the Recovery Plus journals and running R+ conferences. For over 20 years, she was CEO of the Addiction Recovery Foundation charity, editor of Addiction Today, author of Addiction & Recovery: self-help for friends, families and addicts. She serves on the Addictions working group of the Centre for Policy Studies and on IC&RC’s Advisory Council, and contributed to government policy. Deirdre was voted by the public to win the Directory of Social Change Influencer Of The Year Award 2012. The International Council on Alcohol & Addictions awarded her the ‘Dr Vincent Bakeman Memorial Award for Outstanding Community Services’. Liam Byrne (tbc) is Member of Parliament for Birmingham, Hodge Hill, chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Inclusive Growth, co-founder of Red Shift and proud patron of the National Association for Children of Alcoholics – he is campaigning that all local authorities identify and help this vulnerable group. He came top of his class at Manchester University, winning the Robert Mackenzie prize for political science, then won a Fulbright scholarship to Harvard Business School where he took his MBA with honours. In Westminster, Liam has been asked to do some of the hardest jobs in government – in the Home Office, Downing Street and HM Treasury. Liam is the author of the Road to Full Employment and is governor of the Institute of Government. Listen to Camilla on YouTube Caroline Montagu, the Countess of Sandwich, has a MA from Cambridge University and has researched issues round dependency on prescribed medications, particularly painkillers and the ‘z drugs’ or benzodiazepines. She works closely with the Council for Evidence-based Psychiatry. Daniela Collins – PhD, MSc Mental Health, PGcert(Ed), BSc (Hons) Nurs, FHEA, RNMHL1, LPE Nurs, RNT, Qualified Professional Performance Coach – is senior lecturer in mental-health nursing at Middlesex University London’s department of Health, Social Work & Interprofessional Learning. She is a qualified first level mental health nurse, manager and an educator and is a teaching fellow of the Higher Education Academy, London. With 26 years’ experience, Daniela leads on the MSc in dual diagnosis, the only master programme of its kind in the UK and supervises MSc and BSc students relating to public health and substance misuse research. Daniela has several awards for excellence in practice, including the Middlesex University Teaching Fellowship in 2015. Karrim Rahman BA(HONS) DTC, CRW, LCSP(PHYS), APBMD, CRZ will be giving head and shoulder massages throughout the day. He is a remedial therapist, using massage and manipulation, therapeutic massage, reflexology, Tui Na, counselling and relaxation techniques, including for sports/ joint injuries. He first qualified in law and his early career was in local government, then social work and finally therapeutic work. He qualified in remedial massage in 1993; this involves deep-tissue techniques to assist the client’s body to return to normal .
